Oxytetracycline Base (Oxytetracycline Dihydrate)

Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic of the tetracycline class, produced by fermentation of Streptomyces rimosus. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycoplasma, chlamydia, rickettsia and spirochetes. It is active in the inhibition and treatment of enteritis, pneumonia, pullorum disease, typhoid and paratyphoid in poultry and livestock. Oxytetracycline base is mainly used as the raw material for the production of oxytetracycline hydrochloride and doxycycline hydrochloride, and can also be formulated into premixes and soluble powders.
